I had the incredible opportunity to document the experience of junior medical students as they traveled to the Dominican Republic to get hands-on in the areas of medicine they aspired to work in with the aid of Gap Medics program.
When I was their age I do not remember having the vision and drive to be so focused and clear in what I wanted, unlike these inspirational young people.
We journeyed across the country visiting different hospitals, care homes, and private residences to administer aid to those in need. Whilst I studied biology at A Level, becoming a doctor was never a path I directly pursued so I felt extremely lucky to be able to witness babies being born and life-changing operations being performed from such close proximity.
